University of Surrey Accommodation fees

Hello, I'm a mature student starting at University of Surrey in September. I've been offered family accommodation at Manor Park (3 bed flat) and the terms and conditions state that I have to pay accommodation fees in set installments, the first installment is approximately £6000. This is impossible for me and partner, we have 3 kids under 10 years old, my student finance per term is half of that - 100% of it will go to childcare costs while my partner pays the rent with his salary. We can only afford to pay in monthly installments like regular rent.
The University of Surrey website only states that payment plans are only allowed in extenuating circumstances, does anyone know what they mean by that? Or what evidence I need to present? Or is there anyone that can share how to be put on a monthly payment plan?

The University has colleagues who can advise you and they will work with you to try and find a resolution. Information on the student finance support team can be found here. You can also speak to a Student Finance Advisor here. It's best to contact them as soon as possible to arrange support and alternative arrangements.
