Open uni fkd up

My friend applied for open university on the 24th of July, he got a confirmation on the 25th of July regarding it and it said in the email that he would be sent login details within two days, that never happened, he called in and they were absolutely no help, he tried to speak on the chat and the bot would say there's no one available to chat to.

Fast forward a month, no communication or help from open university, no login details, not been able to apply for modules, he got frustrated and reapplied again for the same course (ba business management (accounting) this week. It allowed him to apply, and when he finally got login details, he was able to apply for only two of these first year modules, he's doing b100, db you and your money, and supposed to be doing b124 fundamentals of accounting.

It allowed him to pay for the b100 and dB but not the accounting module and it says it's full. Why would they allow him to apply for this course and not say it's full? What will happen now? He may or may not be able to study this degree this year? I really feel like if he can't study this year on his chosen course, it's open universitys f?!k up because it probably wouldnt have been full a month ago when he originally applied.

Should they be granting him a space because of this? Or putting him number one in the list? Any help is appreciated, thank you!

On a side note, this is not the only issues with open university, they changed my student home name to his name, changed my address to his, and tried to change my course to his, I am studying accounting and finance this year!

I even emailed them and spoke to them on the phone and tried to use chat and they were no help/couldn't get through, took them ages to reply to my email, and even when I had explained everything, they replied to me saying sorry Mr blah blah (used his name again), so annoying as I'm a female and they clearly didn't read my email stating all the things they had messed up!
You do it on a module by module basis. Just because the module is full doesn't mean the course is full.

hi, very similar thing happened to me and i ended up having to call them two days in a row because i couldnt log in to choose my modules. they did fix it and i was able to select modules, however like your situation 2 of my 30 credits are available to start oct 2024 but business management(b100) is full so im on the waiting list. if the waiting list is still full by the time uni starts then you just start the module in february 2025 and finish it september i believe. i however have no idea if this messes up year 2 modules but im assuming it doesnt atm because uni starts october so finishing september shouldnt be an issue. curious to know if youve found out anything since about what happens or not tho. however just so you know im in the same boat!
