Are people with autism generally entitled to extra time in exams? If so why?

I wast told that I could have it, however, as I never needed it, the teachers stopped letting me have it for my year 10 mocks and later tests.

i think it depends, i know personally i got rest breaks, but not extra time as when we did Year7 and Year10 CATS, they do a test of writing speed, so i scored too high on that to get extra time. its not necessarily a given, but if you feel you need it, then can assess you for it, or offer rest breaks

Neurodiverse people often have other problems such as dyspraxia, as well as this, extra time is better, as you can keep re-reading the question and write ideas down.

I've been given rest breaks, extra time and a small room for exams from my understanding

The rest breaks are as I can become fixated on one question and become stuck so need a break before moving onto the next question

Extra time as during the diagnosis they did processing speed tests and said it was lower than the average as well as there being things that could provide distractions in the exam rook (such as a truck outside which also links to rest breaks) so it isn't necessarily the processing speeds but being distracted and focusing
