Mechanical Engineering University of Bolton

Hi so I'm going to he studying mechanical engineering at university of bolton in September and I'm pretty nervous as due to foundation years no longer being available, I'll be starting at first year however I don't have maths A level so I'm feeling pretty nervous. Is there any pre work I could be doing to help prepare as well as any tech (e.g ipad, laptop) that I might need to buy beforehand?

The university should ensure that people who enroll at the university have a suitable background to complete the course.

Try and familiarise yourself with the concepts of calculus, differential equations, matrices, logarithms. Id also be in contact with the course director to ask if there is preparation and mathematics taught in semester 1 as well as maths support.

A computer of some kind is really essential nowadays, a laptop with decent ram & graphics will be useful. Having a powerful PC for running CAE is nice but far from required (the university should have dedicated pc’s you can use).
