So i talked to kcl on thursday about international relations and i got in with the grades i had but they didnt offer me a place when they saw i got a 5 in gcse english. I explained to a million ppl that it was bc i had only just come to the uk and i was only like 2 months into uk education when i took the exam. I told them that i could do much better than a 5 but they said i had to have the grades required which btw they used to want a 5 in gcse english language. Anyway after hanging up i looked up if there was any availability in the english tests they accept and i found a PTE academy slot in London on the 19th. So i rang them the same day around 4pm they told me there were plenty of spaces and that i’d probably be able to get in and even if the website said it wasnt on clearing they told me to phone them anyway, i asked them if they could hold a place, which i wouldn’t have if the test wasnt £200+travel costs, they said they couldnt but that i should still try my luck. The reason i pushed really hard is that my sister is starting in ucl chemistry this year and we want to be on the same city. So i took the exam on monday and got my results yesterday and i got 85/90 which is more than enough but when i rang them the person on the phone said sorry clearing is closed. Idk should i still try or is it totally a lost cause?
