Do I do Chemistry at Uni???

I currently study Chemistry Physics Maths at a higher level doing the IB with 3 standard subjects and I am really uncertain where I want to take it

Out of the 3 I am strongest at chemistry and find it the most enjoyable however I do enjoy all 3 I have been thinking about studying chemistry at uni but was concerned of that will be convienient when looking for a job I’d like to be working on creating new things and I’d like my work to mean something on the sense of the world so is chemistry a good choice can I get a good salary with that degree or should I look more at engineering

Hi,

I'm a current chemistry student so I get where you're coming from with choosing a degree. I would say that chemistry is super versatile and can lead to impactful work in areas like pharmaceuticals, materials science and sustainable energy. To my knowledge, starting salaries might not be as high as engineering but there is good growth potential. This is especially true if you pursue further study. Also, working in research and development can allow you to directly create new things and have a tangible influence on solving real-world problems.

Engineering is more applied and, to my knowledge, can come with a higher starting salary. If you like problem-solving and designing, it could be an avenue to explore. You could also consider something that blends both like chemical engineering.
