Is University Halls at Cardiff actually that bad?

Just got allocated the east wing of university halls and am really nervous about it. Everyone says how terrible they are, and I'm particularly worried about the distance due to having bad legs. Are they really that antisocial, and how many people normally are in a flat? The website says up to 18, which makes me more nervous about anything. Has anybody stayed there before and can say what they're like?

Hey, bit late, you might already be there! But I'll be arriving tomorrow, I'm wondering much of the same.

Hi there,

Apologies as I haven't stayed in University Halls myself! But I have friends who have.

With the distance, the uni offers a free bus to campus, which runs on specific hours. This is only really a problem if you're looking to do a night out with friends, then most people usually get a taxi.

From my friends experiences, its been pretty sociable, dependent on the people you share a flat with. But I see that you've already moved in, so you'll already have your own experiences. Hope you're enjoying University Halls so far!

Yeah! I can agree with your friends, the buses are very convenient and inexpensive if you need one on the weekend

Yes very true!

And if you haven't heard already, buses around Cardiff offer a travel pass card for under 21s called My Travel Pass. You can get bus tickets for even cheaper through this scheme

Hi there,

Fatiha said it well. The people who i've met who lived in uni halls, were not anti-social, there will be more than enough people to hopefully find people who are more sociable and wanting to do similar things to you. But also remember that there are so many other opportunities to be social and make friends at uni, my flat in first year was quiet, but in a way i liked that after being out all day to come home and chill. I made most of my close friends outside of where i was living, from the course, societies and through other people. I'm sure you'll have fun, dont worry!
