What are Current/ex Sussex Uni students views on the uni

Hi,
I’m thinking about going to Sussex Uni and would love to hear anyone’s experience of it. I’m going to do History but don’t care if you are a current or ex student who didn’t do history, I would just love to hear your view of the uni!

Thank you
I know this is quite late, but I go to Sussex and I study biology. I really like the uni, the campus is very nice and the teaching in life sciences is very good (which I know isn't relevant to you). I find the people here to be very kind and caring, and it is also great to be able to go into Brighton whenever you want to!

Hi, I have applied for biology at Sussex and I was wondering if it is a good course, since I've also got offers from Exeter and Bristol which are more prestigious. I really liked Sussex and it's the only uni I can see myself going to. Is the biology course very full on and is there lots of support? Also, if I was more interested in Ecology, could I specialise in 2nd year? It would be great to know the pros and cons!

I have really enjoyed my first year and how it has developed my knowledge. The lecturers are very supportive and my academic advisor is wonderful. I found the first semester a very good introduction and then the second semester was very full on. In the second year you have to specialise (options are Cellular and Molecular biology, whole organisms - including ecology, etc., or neuroscience).

Pros:
Pretty much in Brighton, plenty of fun things to do when not studying
A lot of green spaces, excellent for walks and fieldwork
Good bus and train services

Cons:
Not much time in labs
For me, long way from home and knew no one when I got to Sussex
Accommodation is very expensive

If you have anymore questions please ask me!
A lot of building sites
