Hey guys,

We hope you're all keeping well!
We'd like to welcome you all to our new University of Kent 2025 applicant thread.
:grouphugs:
Feel free to meet and chat to others applying here!

We, as student reps, are also incredibly happy to answer any questions you may have with regards to Kent.

As a little icebreaker, we'd love to get to know you guys a bit more!
“What course are you applying for or interested in?”
“Will you be attending any Open Days or Applicant Days?”
“How are you feeling about starting University?”
"What do you know or would like to learn about Canterbury?"

We look forward to hearing from you, and we can't wait to see you next year!
:hugs:
Warm regards and best wishes,

University of Kent Student Reps
Hi! I'm Ianto, and I've applied for Biomedical Science. I attended an open day in September and (pending working out logistics) hopefully will be going to an applicant day in the new year. I'm looking forward to starting uni and being a little more independent but a little nervous about living with people I don't know, especially as a queer person.

Hey @bowtiesrcool,

I hope you're keeping well. 🙂

Thanks so much for introducing yourself, and congratulations on your application to Biomedical Science—it’s such an exciting field! (I’m a little jealous, to be honest. 😆 )

It’s great to hear you’ve already visited us during an open day! We’d absolutely love to welcome you back for an applicant day in the new year if you can make it. These events are such a great way to explore the campus, meet staff and students, and really start picturing yourself here.

I completely understand your mixed feelings about starting university. For me, I was initially nervous about things like privacy and noise when sharing spaces, so I totally get where you’re coming from. I think it’s completely natural to feel both excited and a little apprehensive, especially about living with new people.
That said, I want to reassure you that Kent is an incredibly welcoming and inclusive community. We celebrate diversity in all its forms, and there’s a strong emphasis on creating a safe and supportive environment for everyone. In the rare instance that you ever face any challenges, Kent takes these matters very seriously and has systems in place to provide support.

You’ll also find plenty of student services and societies, including the LGBTQ+ Society, which is a fantastic space to connect with others and build a supportive community if that’s something you’d like to explore.

If you have any specific questions or worries—whether about accommodations, social life, or anything else—please don’t hesitate to reach out.
We’re here to help make your transition to Kent as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Looking forward to seeing you on campus soon!
Warm regards,

David 🙂
