Can I ask for a remark of my papers and apply for special circumstances

Okay so I am in a very sticky situation, I was diagnosed with ADHD just a few weeks ago but still after my exams had finished, I only just found out about special circumstances and I’m not sure if I would be eligible.

My accommodations weren’t met and my key-worker straight up refused to help me ask for accommodations because “I left it to late” even though I was only accepted onto the SEN program after the deadline had passed due to my mental health being that bad and getting worse after losing my dad the same year, I first started asking for accommodations at the start of year 10 but she was still insisting it was to late even though I would go on to be accepted into a smaller room with the help of CAHMS not even a month or two after my first yr 10 mocks and that’s about the only thing they met with my accommodations and even then it barely helped as I was put into a room with people with distracting fidget toys and somebody who would not once but twice argue with the invigilator because her needs weren’t being met as she was injured during our exams and was in constant pain. There’s clear evidence in my papers that would of suggested that I would of benefitted from extra time, e.g having to end my answer half way through because the exam had finished. I was also unmedicated due to not being diagnosed, now this doesn’t sound bad but I’m on a high dose of concerta which has madly improved my focus.

I kind of feel like I was at an unfair advantage with being diagnosed only a few weeks after my exams and had no idea that this special circumstances thing even existed!?

Applying for special consideration will not make you any bad. I think you should try, you never know what they will decide as every situation is different!

It does sound like a tough situation and really unlucky timing for your diagnosis. Ideally with support from your family you should meet with your school exams officer and someone from the school leadership team to discuss your options. In these circumstances I don't think what you described would qualify, your centre didn't ask for access arrangements to be approved before the request deadline and so they were not provided, but I could be wrong. A late application for special consideration can only be made in very exceptional circumstances. A review of marking ("remark") will only change anything if the papers were not correctly marked, it will not redress the lack of access arrangements.
