Hello!
Thank you for your question.
There are many careers you can pursue with a BSc Biology degree, depending on which aspect of biology you like most.
If you like all aspects of biology you may wish to consider more general jobs such as being a teacher, a lecturer or a biologist who works on most fields of biology.
If you have a specific area of biology you like, you can specialise. For example, you could become an ecologist, a microbiologist etc...
Most Biology BSc degrees will give you the option of tailoring your degree to your interests. This means in your first year, you will usually have compulsory modules but in the following years you can pick the modules you like.
You are correct in the fact that Biological sciences and Biomedical sciences seem to be more lab-based. A Biology BSc will give you the chance to make your degree as little or as much lab-based as you'd like, depending on the modules you chose.
There are also Biology jobs within other career faculties that may not seem traditional. For example, if you like law, you could also become a patent attorney. Biology is a diverse subject that's present in a lot of our daily lives so you can tailor your career in biology to other careers.
Whilst at UEA there isn't directly a Biology BSc, there is a BSc Biological Sciences degree. This course is interdisciplinary, allowing you to explore all areas of Biology in the first year and then in the following years you can tailor it to your interests.
