GCSEs for Imperial?

I'm making this post on behalf of my brother. My brother got his GCSE results today and they weren't great: 2 8s, 2 7s, 5 6s and 2 5s. He's pretty devastated because he really wants to study something like computer science at Imperial.

How much emphasis does Imperial place on GCSEs? Would this set of GCSEs hold him back significantly?

Considering that most people that end up at Imperial are oxbridge reject who presumably already had the GCSE grade good enough for oxbridge. It is an uphill battle, I am afraid, but doesn't mean your brother shouldn't try.

Imperial has other metric like their admission test (TMUA, I think?) If he can smash that and get really good predicted grades.
