How likely am I to get into imperial

I want to apply to mechanical engineering at imperial

My GCSE grades were:
Maths: 9
Computer science: 8
Chemistry: 8
Re: 8
English lang: 8
Geography: 7
Physics: 7
French: 7
Biology: 6
English lit: 6

My a levels are maths chem physics and Im predicted 3 A*

If I do average on my esat and my personal statement is decent how likely am I to get an offer?
Could you also tell me for ucl?

I really want to get into imperial but I don't know how likely I am to get an offer.

Also could you tell me other course other than mechanical engineering that's also valuable but I'd be more likely to get into.

Most people applying will be reasonably similar to you, although maybe not 3A*. On each course page at imperial there’s a ratio of applicants to offers that you can look at.

Thanks I will check it out could you send the link

Also What I'm worried about is that I didnt do further maths even tho my school offered it because my mum was greatly against it for some reason even tho I'm really strong in maths so I had some family issues with that but imperial seems to favour further maths more so than other unis, and those who get in withott further maths are usually those who went to a sixth form that didn't offer fm

I’m currently doing physics without further maths, so it’s not the end of the world if you show in your personal statement that you’re covering the gap.

Just scroll down to the details on any imperial course website

I found the spreadsheet of the information of the applications And offer for the last five years but it doesn't mention what predicted grades the accepted applicants had. I'll try practice a lot for esat and work on my personal statement to cover the gap of not having fm

by the way could you recommend what i could research about to talk about in my personal statement as I'm not able to do on site work experience/ summer school so I want to research on university modules and write some articles on it and things like that

I’m not really sure for engineering, but the key thing is to prove interest and effort. Books, webinars, online courses are all good.

Alright thanks, by the way do you study physics at imperial? How has your experience been, I've been really interested in physics and thought about whether I should apply for that instead and could you give me advice on how you studied physics during A level

I do physics at imperial. You need to enjoy maths and be happy doing somewhat less applied work than engineering.
Also, you have to be able to learn by yourself. That’s how most of us do anything.

For A-level, there’s a syllabus and lots of past questions. Learn everything and practice all the questions. That’s all there is to alevels. How you do it is very individual.

Is the workload as much as it's said to be? Compared to A level how stressful do you find it

A-level maths and physics were not very stressful for me. I spent all my time doing A-level french.

Imperial physics is a lot. But so is mech eng. The university is working hard to make it better, but I have done several all nighters for work (which I never did for alevel).

All imperial courses are a lot of work. But most people succeed.

All nighters Sounds rough but imperial still sounds exciting, thanks for the responses I will continue to work hard to increase my chances to get in
