Hi there!
As a Lancaster student, I’ve found the nightlife to be quite vibrant. Each college has its own bar for socializing, and in town, there are three nightclubs, with The Sugarhouse being particularly popular. It’s run by the student union and offers a safe, student-only environment with various themed nights. Additionally, there are plenty of pubs and bars in town that cater to students.
Making friends outside your college is definitely possible. Many of my friends are from different colleges. The first week is a great time to explore different clubs and societies to find people with similar interests. You’re also welcome to attend events at other colleges, so if you find a community that feels right for you, don’t hesitate to join in.
I hope this helps address your concerns! Enjoy your time at Lancaster, and remember, everyone’s in the same boat during the first year, all looking to make new friends. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and connect with others!
Best of luck, and I’m sure you’ll find your own group!

Hi @varsh_xx Just to add to what Jane has already said, but i personally like the variety of nightlife that is available at Lancaster. The colleges run lots of night time events and the college bars are great way to chill or socialize with friends outside of your flat. Then in town there are 3 nightclubs but there's also a great live music scene with bars like John o gaunt and Kanteena regularly having live music events. Also, you can definitely make friends that are outside of your college, usually you will make friends on your course, in societies as well as in your college/flat. Societies are a great way to meet new people and make friends as everyone there will have a common interest making it easy to initially chat with people. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask! -Jasmine (Lancaster Student Ambassador)
