How to prepare for vet school?

Hello everyone, I have secured a place at the University of Nottingham as part of the April cohort (the university takes in 2 classes in September and April). As my start date is still a couple of months away, I was wondering if there were any pre-reading material I could read to help me prepare better for vet school?

Congratulations! Im a current 4th year April vet! I wouldn't recommend doing any reading. You will be very busy at vet school so enjoy some time off. If you feel like you really want to maybe jsut keep your biology knowledge fresh in your mind. In terms of veterinary specific things the only thing id specify doing is maybe buying some of the standers anatomy colouring books!

Hi there! Honestly I would recommend (just to make life easier down the line) having a grasp on basic anatomy - there's several diagrammatic books around that make it easy to follow. Bones, joints, and organs/organ systems, since they'll be important to you from day one of the degree all through your career.

I would say just enjoy your time off. From April onwards it will be full on even if EMS requirements have been slight lowered, and arriving with fully charged batteries is essential. There will be students with A levels, the IB, Access courses and many international equivalents so the first year will have to accommodate the different levels of knowledge so I really wouldn’t worry about not remembering all of your A level courses. It’ll come back soon enough.
Best of luck. You’ll love your time at Nottingham !!🍀
