UCAT score

Hi, what universities do I have a good chance of getting into with my UCAT score?
I got 2780 and B2, and I'm worried I wont have a good chance at getting into Manchester/Imperial/Bristol.

I'm taking my UCAT next week though I have done some homework myself with re to which med school to apply to with correlation to UCAT score.

If you look at your score ranking based on last year's UCAT decile 2023, you are in the 8th decile

https://www.ucat.ac.uk/results/test-statistics/

Assuming 35,000 students took UCAT this year and you are just about 80% better than the others, there are still 20% students likely to be better than yourself. That equates to ~7000 possible students who scored better in UCAT than yourself. You can then work out the risk and apply strategically.

The above is based on assumption of number of students taking UCAT for 2024 and based on 2023 UCAT official results. There will be some discrepancy in assumption for sure.

Bristol - risky
Imperial - no one knows what their UCAT cut off is.

Bristol is almost certainly out, last year the cutoff for home students was 2910. Assuming a similar score this year, it seems like a waste of an application.

Yep, I also looked at the 2023 percentiles and I'm sure I'm most likely in the top 80%, so yep Bristol is out of the question esp because I can't get a contextual offer.

Yep, I think I'm going to apply to Nottingham instead because I'm sure my GCSE results will balance it out and give me a higher chance of being invited to interview than Bristol

GANFYD mentioned in one of the posts that Bristol may drop its UCAT cut off, reason being all unis are now UCAT. Which make sense....do keep one eye on Bristol.

What's your GCSE and A stats?

GCSE's - I got 99999999888
8s in Maths, Physics and Computer Science
9s in English Language, English Literature, Bio, Chem, R.S, Geography, History, Latin

A-Levels - I got predicted AAAA in Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and Latin (but I'm dropping Latin and didn't sit an AS in it)
My A-Level predictions were quite unfair tbh, I had a lot of mental health scares and concerns which the school knew about but refused to take into account, so my mock grades of ABBB meant I didn't get a single A* prediction, even though all my B's were high Bs.

Hi, I’m currently in year 13 and applying to medicine pretty soon. I got : 999999988 in my GCSE’s with 9 in English language and an 8 maths. I got a UCAT score of 2890 and band 3 situational judgement. I’m predicted A*AA in my a-levels (biology, chemistry and history). I’m looking to apply to Liverpool and St Andrews. I was wondering if these were good choices? Would Oxford be a possibility for me if I got Band 3 SJT? What other universities would be a good option? Thank you!

UCAT 2920 sjt 3. would cambridge be a possibility. please advise for strategic application
Please post your query on https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7312527

Following the structure in post 1 of the thread - GCSE, UCAT, contextual or non-contextual, what home work/research on med schools you have done.

@BlueTiger55 - while Liverpool and St Andrew are ok to apply, Liverpool has a lower interview to offer ratio. There are other unis to consider.

Likewise for @Padmanabha
