Nursing students share their experience of the course

A Nursing student has encouraged others to follow her lead and apply for Nursing at the University of Bradford.

Ujala has completed two of her three years studying nursing at the university and has had placements on wards at Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) and Airedale General Hospital.

The mother-of-one was previously a PE teacher for 10 years, but opted to change her career to nursing and started her studies at the University of Bradford in September 2022.

Ujala said: “Nursing is a job that has so many different pathways you can choose, it is not just about working in a hospital.

“There is a very supportive network for the nursing students at the University of Bradford. You don’t feel alone. Bradford is a really good place to study nursing. It is a good and diverse university to study at.

“You always make a best friend in nursing who knows what you’re going through.”

Sam has urged prospective Nursing students to ‘go for it’ at the University of Bradford.

In September she will start her fourth and final year studying for MNurse (Adult/Mental Health) at Bradford. She combines her full-time studies at Bradford with working 28 hours a week as a support worker in Wakefield and being a mother to her four-year-old son.

During her studies she has completed six adult and mental health placements.
Sam said: “I would say to anyone to go for it, what have you got to lose. You don’t know until you try.”

It’s not too late to apply to start a Nursing programme this autumn, applications for Nursing are open at Bradford until Wednesday 2 October through Clearing.

Clearing is an opportunity for prospective students to find a place in higher education attracting a wide range of people, from students who may already have results from the previous year to those who have changed their mind about a course or who have not received the grades they expected and those who have not yet applied to start a University course this autumn.

Apply through Clearing online or call 0808 196 9129.
