How hard is it to get into a better university for a masters?

I am on track for a 1st from Aston University. I’m currently studying economics and would like to be able to be considered for high-finance jobs in London. Would studying a masters in Economics from a top 5 target university allow me to do this? Or would I not be considered because of my undergraduate institution? Can anyone who has gone onto study a masters at a top 5 uni help me out? Do people like me even get into these top unis for PG? I’ve heard it’s near impossible as I’d be competing with their current UG students and people with work experience. Someone help me out please

If you are accepted to an MSc at Cambridge, Oxford, LSE, UCL, Imperial, Warwick, Durham or Bristol, then you have a good chance.

Masters applications aren't really the same as undergrad. With a First it is fine to make an application anywhere, including the top end places. However, getting an offer isn't the tricky bit - funding the degree is often the bigger challenge. So generally, apply to 5, 6, 7, 8 places but work out how you are going to fund any of them when offers come through.
