Hey also going into year 11 like next week, I desperately need help in sciences. what did you do to revise and remember content. Also how did you go about answering questions, the questions seem to be worded in many different ways which is confusing to me

Any tips are much appreciated, good luck on your journey I'll be watching along too 🫶🏾

Hey! I totally get where you're coming from - I struggled with science last year too. Something that really helped me was YouTube videos. My teacher's explanations didn't always work for me, so I turned to videos where things were explained with diagrams, which made it easier to understand and apply what I learned in class.
If videos aren't your thing (since they’re more visual), you might want to try flashcards or any active recall techniques, like blurting. But honestly, my biggest game-changer was doing practice questions and past papers. They help you remember the material and familiarise you with the different ways questions can be worded.
For the weirdly worded questions, I’d recommend looking at exemplar answers, especially for the 6-mark ones, or asking your teacher for clarification. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, since it has really helped me retain information better.
Hope this helps, and good luck with your revision! I'm sure you'll do great. 😄
hi! congrats on your results and good luck on the rest, I’m sure you’ll do fine!

first week: done!! i started on wednesday, honestly i’m glad i’m back to school, i was getting so bored at home haha

haven’t had all my lessons yet but this week was mostly just the teachers talking about the exams and explaining things i already know *-*
maths started off strong, i’ve done multiple worksheets at home already, sigh
further maths has been good, the lessons are very fast paced, but once i get the hang of it it’s nice - this week we did differentiation

fav lesson this week: geography <33 my teacher made a board of the best student on each end of topic test as well as the mock from last year and i was the best out of his two classes in 4 tests (including the mock) yay

worst lesson: pe, it’s so useless ugh

goals for upcoming week: get on top of homework as soon as it’s set, sleep before 10pm, finish all my maths worksheets, start making flashcards for subjects

good luck this year guys!!

hiya! i like to quiz myself on seneca for physics - it's completely free, and you can add the subjects you're studying. I've found it really helpful! you can also find useful flashcards for physics on quizlet to save time making revision resources.

for sciences in general, i think past papers are really good since the wording of questions can be tricky sometimes, so it’s a good idea to practice exam-style questions often. as for the equation sheet, i’m not sure what i’m going to do about it either 😭 flashcards might be the best way to memorise them, or you could focus on applying the equations directly to practice questions.

hope this helps!

week 2!

definitely back into routine now but I've been sleeping at 11pm oops. I've had lots of things to do tbh, but it's good bc at least I'm not getting bored. i had prefect duty this week - not very fun - but I got to spend lots of time with my friends 😄
my most demanding subjects rn are definitely maths and further maths (my favs) ! I've had so many worksheets but I loveee getting them right hehe. fm this week was finding equations of tangents and normal 🙃 peter symonds came to my school on wednesday and honestly I can't wait to apply - my personal statement has been ready for agesss. i really hope I get in :P

fav lesson this week: science?!! i had a few practicals which actually worked for once. we've started learning paper 2 for bio and chem so it's been quite fun

worst lesson: Spanish - it's too easy so I just get bored [sigh]. i have some Spanish mocks this week so I hope I do good on them

speaking of mocks, I got an 8 in my year 10 re mock (yay). i never get 9s tho it's so annoying, I'll lock in for the december mocks 😅 this week's revision has been a bit inconsistent, so I'll make sure to do more next week. I've been using seneca for bio revision (loveee)

goals for upcoming week: finish english homework, finish media research, sleep earlier!!, actually follow revision timetable

see you next week!!
