University of Exeter BSc Medical Sciences 2024

Hey, I just wanted to start a thread to chat with people starting the Medical Sciences course this year in September. I don't really hear anyone talking about this course so I'm also hoping we could post any questions here so people can answer them in one thread.
Also, was hoping those who have done/are doing this course can post any advice/things they wish they knew in first year.

hi! me too!! have barely found anyone else doing the course, and those who i have also seem to be clueless... i didn't go to any open days or offer days so i'm dying of curiosity lol 😭 it's weird because i don't think medsci is that rare of a subject?

Hi! I know right? Btw I went to the offer day and the course seemed pretty well structured by the talk they had and I got to have a kind of mock lecture and I thought it was quite easy to understand. They very strongly encouraged the placement year as thats how many people got jobs/internships after uni. I literally know no one doing this course, so I was really scared no one would notice this post. I also wanted to find the facebook page but I couldn't make an account because of my name for some reason 🥲

i was really hoping there was a proper gc or something! i got added to the normal medicine gc on snapchat after mentioning medsci on the whatsapp freshers gc because there's other people doing medsci in there - just no one's talking lol... i only downloaded snapchat like a week ago so i feel intimidated just randomly initiating a convo 😓 do you have any other socmed? i'm on the normal facebook freshers group but there's not really much happening on there tbh so dw!

Ah ok. I had snapchat but I hated the amount of notifications so I deleted it very quickly and only have instagram for messaging people i know tbh. I'm not in any gc at the moment as none of my friends are going to uni and couldn't really find any way to get into any but thought it would be nice to start a thread to just in case there was any news I was missing. Also, I don't know why but I find the student room more easy to chat with. What accomodation did you get btw? I got James Owen Court as I thought it would be nicer in the middle as I heard most of the lessons are on Streathem but tutor is in St. Lukes Campus.

i'm in moberly! actually just wondering if you've got the welcome induction thing yet? it seems it's being rolled out in stages but i haven't had it yet. i was a bit worried abt the st. lukes campus because i remember choosing moberly thinking it was in the middle of both campuses but turns out st. lukes is still a 40 minute walk 🙃 i was thinking i'd be running between both campuses lol so if we don't have to be there that much that's great!
