Engineering uni supercurriculars

What are like good books to read for electrical engineering at uni and just supercurriculars in general ?
Are extracurriculars important when applying to Russel unis ?

Hello! As a student who finished their A-Levels this year and will be studying aerospace engineering this September, here's what I would suggest:

Online MOOCs (Future Learn, TuDelft, MIT open courseware)

summer school (Sutton trust, EDT trust)

personal project (I built a solenoid engine)

In-person talks or events at universities

check the Isaac physics events section and try join an online event

ICE CityZen competition

Try the British Physics Olympiad or UKMT

As for electrical engineering books I haven't read any so I can't advise you on that but they don't have to be specific to electrical engineering. As long as you can link the book to an important engineering specific skill or electrical engineering, It's fine to include.

I'm not sure if this programme will continue as of this year but keep an eye out for UCL MSSL Space science week. They had a 1 week long work experience opportunity where students were grouped and given a project. Mine was on coronal holes. I got to use data collected from a NASA satellite to create a movie using the pictures we obtained after doing some coding, mind you I don't know how to code! As a group we worked on a presentation which we delivered at the end. It was extremely fun with talks hosted by different people working at the lab and there was an opportunity to visit it the centre too.

Goodluck !
