Student Halls Accom - Man Met for Sep 24 - Fresher House Share for Daughter?

Like a lot of others I'm sure, I am frustrated with the lack of availability and expense of student accommodation for September. My daughter accepted her place on results day but wasn't sent an accommodation portal code until Tuesday. Since then, there has been pretty much nothing available via the portal, save a few random cancellations that pop up at random and disappear within seconds.
The accommodation office are friendly and responsive but still direct you to private suppliers who either don't have the rooms they claim to have - or who are charging rates that are VERY expensive.
My daughter is worried about sharing a house with older or rowdy students but would be mroe confident about sharing with fellow Man Met freshers.
Is there a match-making service for freshers in the same position? There must be dozens of others who are in the same boat.
