didn't get the gcse grades for two of the a-levels i wanted to do - what now lol

at the sixth form i am going to you need 6,6 in combined science to do a science a-level. i was going to do physics and biology (+ maths) because these were my absolute fav subjects. the only thing that made my grades suffer was chemistry. anyway i got a 6,5. so now i cant do either of my two fav subjects and i need to pick two more. i've always been more into maths and science so it's so hard to pick because i need to choose two subjects that aren't maths or science.

You could do Applied science or talk to your school about letting you do physics and biology. But if you don't wanna do applied science and your school doesn't allow you to do physics and biology, you could pick subjects that are similar to maths and science like business for example.

Surely with it only being one grade lower than the requirements they could give you some consideration and let you do the subjects still.

Ask the sixth form if it's possible you can do the subjects, and if the teachers feel like that you aren't prepared for the subject then you'll change courses. Granted, you'll need to put a lot of effort in to ensure you can stay on the course. Dedication, revision and effort are vital.

If not, are there no other sixth forms or colleges in your area you could attend that would let you onto their courses? Is it really worth attending a sixth form if you're not going to enjoy the subjects? A-levels are hard enough, but I can imagine it'd be even harder if you dislike the subjects you take.

I checked the websites for other schools in my area. There is only one other school that does A-Levels for some reason and they only do them in 'Professional Pathway'/'Extended Choices' so you can't choose three separate subjects you want you have choose like the 'STEM pathway' where you do Chem, Maths, Physics or CS, Maths, Physics. But the teacher I spoke to has said I can go back to the school and speak to him on Tuesday so I probably will just ask him can I go on that course and then if I struggle I will switch subjects (and I might work better since he actually is the physics teacher and he would know if I was going well in the class or not)

Ask to do a trial period and if you get a high percentage in your first exam, they will let you stay on the subject
