Oxford medical school application

Hi everyone,

I have a few questions about applying to Oxford medical school as an Italian student. Currently i’m 16 years old and i’m in the third year of high school out of five! i’m really looking forward to studying medicine at Oxford and i definitely need advices, facts and help.

Could you outline all the specific requirements that Oxford looks for? I’m trying to make sure I understand everything I need to prepare. What does the entire application process look like, from when it begins to what I need to submit? Are there any important deadlines I should be aware of?

Additionally, how realistic is it for an Italian student like me to be accepted? What can I do to improve my chances? For example, would spending a year studying abroad help strengthen my application?

I’d really appreciate any advice on how to make my application as strong as possible.

Thank you for your guidance!

There are very few students getting accepted outside from England into any UK unis so you need to be the best of the best in your country. First of all, choose what you're going to do with finances, than we can talk. Tuition can cost like £100,000 per year for international students and there are very, very limited scholarships available. It's going to be much easier to get in as postgraduate in all senses but you should try applying for undergraduate anyway if you can pay.

Nothing would guarantee it, they always choose between very strong candidates. Here is what English student do to get in: olympiads on national or international level(would be good but optional), Oxford and Cambridge essey competitions, preparation for the admission tests and interviews and some good supercuriculars. In your case essentially English proficiency test. If you will have all of the above on high level there is a good chance you will get in.

https://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/courses/course-listing/medicine here you can find a lot of details about the course. Don't look too much as subject required, these are for English students. However, your school report must be perfect anyways and have these subjects.
Yes, you can do olympiad in Biology which you have to research in regards to your country, but they require years of preparation or at least very high level of subject knowledge.
For essey competitions try searching in Google "Oxford/Cambridge essey competitions", they are also very competitive but if you end up winning one it will boost your application massively.
Thank you for your help )

No such thing as "something that would guarantee me (almost) to get in". Every subject at Oxford is oversubscribed and has way more qualified applicants than they could ever accept, and Medicine especially so.

From a cursory glance, the Oxford Pre-Clinical Medicine website already answers many of your questions https://www.medsci.ox.ac.uk/study/medicine/pre-clinical/applying ? Have you checked out the resources on the medicine sub-forum on TSR? Or the Oxford demystified guide by @OxfordMum? Googling can get you the answers for the vast majority of your questions.

Here are some interviews questions that may come up.
The admissions test you will have to sit is UCAT so try finding resources on the Internet to prepare.
You're in a good position of getting in if you work hard, good luck!
