Should i appeal my gcse results?!

Hi, I was expecting a 9 in Latin but received an 8, however i was one mark off.
I’m wondering if its worth spending the money to appeal and potentially go up a grade. If anyone with past experiences on appealing gcse results wants to give me advice, I’d appreciate it very much.
If you'd like it to move up to a 9, and can spare the money, i'd say you might as well go for it as there's a decent chance it would go up.

Hi!
I agree with the other reply. If you want that grade nine, go for it! Last year, I sat my GCSES, and I appealed my computer science, as I was one away from a 7 (the mark I needed to take computing at A-Level). Luckily, I got my extra mark, and therefore am doing computing!

However, I do think the probability of getting an extra mark does vary depending on the subject. I was lucky, as my computer science teacher looked at my paper and suggested that I get it remarked, as there was an answer that I did get right that was just overlooked.

While getting a paper remarked is a gamble, I do think it is worth it if you believe that you deserve that grade 9. Additionally, I think that the fact that you get a refund if the mark is changed gives you more of a reason to try for an extra mark.

Whatever you do, I wish you all the best! A grade 8 in Latin is still so impressive, well done! :-)

Thank you so much for your guidance! I think i will end up appealing it and hope for the best 🤞😊

hi , i know this isn’t really related , but do have any tips for revising latin , because 8/9 is honestly such a good grade ! CONGRATS , also i suggest getting it remarked as there’s no way they wouldn’t be able to find and extra mark

Hello! Im glad you asked, my main advice would be to regularly revise the vocab especially verbs and their different forms in tenses as this is the trickiest. For memorising the texts i made quizlets and tried to recall the translation before seeing it. Start to make these resources as soon as you learn it to save time in the future. But mainly i tried rly hard in lessons and was close with my teacher so he helped me out constantly! Good luck 😁

YES!!!! I was 1 mark off an A at psychology A level, got it remarked for free (as within the 3 marks to the next grade it's free to remark) and I got my A!!

You can only get priority access if your uni place depends on it. There's no 'guarantee'' your mark will increase .. most don't.
