I have stopped using dating apps. Have you?

I have been using it since May and got unmatched by every single person I managed to chat with. It is simply a waste of time when I am struggling to look for a house to move to as my current lease is ending on 31 August, i.e. becoming homeless.

I don’t really understand the purpose of dating apps and I felt I used it simply because I followed the trend. I have kind of lost the motivation to form any new close relationships, be it a friend or whatsoever, somehow because I am not satisfied with the change in nature of human relationship since the advent of social media (I am old enough to remember the days without social media).

What do you think?

Yeah, I don't like how social media has pushed many social interactions online. The purpose of dating apps was to get to know people for dating, since many of the situations in which you'd traditionally meet potential partners have now been pushed online (e.g.: work from home)

I think most people on dating apps are there because they feel like they have no other options but they aren't too happy about that. Certainly there's an air of despair and resignation whenever somebody brings up dating apps in my social circles.

It’s a particularly toxic form of selection that makes people a catalogue commodity.

I'm not currently using them as I seeing someone on a casual basis that I met through Tinder.

I think dating apps are great for meeting people but not great in establishing the necessary bonds for a long term relationship.

True. I agree with that. You are definitely right.
