Hey, what courses are you wanting to retake?

Some colleges offer courses that are level 2, which is what GCSEs are. If you want to re-do a non-core subject (ie not Maths or English), they may offer this. At the same time, if you do choose to do a level 2 course, they can support you in re-taking both your maths and English at the same time.

The alternative offer is to re-take a year entirely, but if you're staying in a secondary school they may require you to follow a standard timetable, which means resitting courses that you don't wish to resit.

Why? Generally retaking GCSEs isn't worthwhile, unless you don't have English or Maths. So what is the purpose or goal of resitting?

So you need to be more strategic than that.

First of all, uni's that need A*s at A level are also often less accepting of resits, unless you have completely changed subject goals. So make sure the courses/Unis you are aiming for accept resits.

Second, consider whether you really need to resit, going to a non-A* standard uni might mean a better learning experience and a better final outcome for you.

Third, consider why you didn't get the grades you wanted first time around. Did you actually have some event that seriously impacted your ability to learn and sit exams over the four years of GCSEs and A levels, and that will not be an issue for the 3 years at uni? Or are you someone that simply promises a lot, or sets themselves idealistic goals, but doesn't put the in effort required to achieve them? If the second of these, what plan do you have to change this?
