hi! Third year uni student here, my sixth form experience was a little different since I was fully virtual, but hopefully I can help!

My biggest tip would be to start your revision from the get go - you don’t have to stress about it certainly in the first term of y12 but doing a little bit often (e.g., making flashcards for a topic after you’ve learnt that topic in class) makes a huge difference! I also recommend getting the revision textbooks (depending on your subject, I find CGP really helpful) as they’re good for if you get stuck on a topic and sometimes provide extra info that teachers miss out.

My other tip would be to use your free periods wisely - depending on your school, some of them might be supervised or they might all be just free reign - as they’re a great time to catch up on homework! And getting into the habit of studying solo is also great practice for university if that’s something you want to do

The other thing to bear in mind with sixth form is that your grades might drop initially. I had good GCSE grades and ended up with As and A*s at A-Level but a lot of my grades in y12 were Bs and Cs. Don’t get downhearted!! It’s just about getting used to the higher content and the different types of questions - past papers are a godsend for getting used to markschemes! - and it’s definitely achievable to bring your marks back up by the end of y12.

Hope this helps! And good luck with starting sixth form!!
