Do I still have a chance at Oxbridge medicine

My gcses were 6 grades at 8, 2 at a 9 and 1 at a 6 and one at a 5. The 6 was physics and the 5 was engineering. The two 9s were maths and english literature. The 8s were computer science, bio, chem, geography, statistics and english language. Assuming i continue on this path and get around 2A*s and an A or above with an above average UCAT can i still get into Oxbridge? And on a related note, am i on track for UCL or imperial?(i know they don’t rank GCSEs just wondering if im on the right path for them)

Your grades are not amazing but ok. With strong PS, reference, UCAT and predicted grades, you stand a non-zero chance of getting an oxbridge offer.

Medicine is very competitive at any university, so make sure you pick some safety options that you think you have a good chance on too.

“Your grades are not amazing but ok” are you delusional or something? She got 8 A*s how tf is that not amazing

Different standards, I guess it depends on the context of the individuals school. Just being real because we're talking about an extremely competitive course at the most competitive University.

You need to apply strategically for medicine and only have four slots The usual medical candidate has 10 or more 8/9 at Oxford.Unless your school is poor and you have outperformed your peers you may be wasting a choice going for Oxford.See how UKAT goes.
From what I’ve seen, Oxford and Cambridge are incredibly difficult to get into, and honestly, they might not be worth it. If you look at their teaching methods, they still seem quite outdated and haven’t been updated in a long time, especially compared to universities like King’s College and Brunel, among many others. I would suggest looking through their courses, but I do think there are better universities out there for medicine that you can get into if you work hard.
However, if you genuinely like Oxford and Cambridge because of the courses they offer and you really want to go, then go for it! But if you’re only doing it for the prestige, it’s probably not worth the effort. If you do decide to apply, you’re going to need to work really hard because you’ll be competing with people who have top grades across the board. But if you’re determined and put in the effort, you’ve got this! And even if you don’t get into medicine, you can still apply for other degrees with less competition.
Either way, I wish you good luck, and I hope this helps!

It's not outdated - its called Traditional teaching. Not all students are suitable for Traditional teaching nor all students suitable for PBL (Problem Based Learning). It's rather harsh of you to cast a stone on teaching methodology that spread across two different spectrum.

Oxford - frankly no. Cambridge depends on how you achieve in your Yr12 results and UCAT that's for sure. You really need to drill in to achieving good results in Yr12 rather than worrying about unis at this stage

All the best - once you have a solid yr 12 results and UCAT, you are on solid ground to take on UCL/Imperial and even Cambridge.

The obsession to get onto Oxbridge is really strong and rather depressing. Other universities are available. It seems that you need a stream of 9s, and at least 3 x A*s. Also note Oxbridge and in particular Medicine are some of the most competitive courses in the WORLD!!!! sometimes students need to reflect upon this reality and act accordingly. It's like watching people on Pop Idol saying they really really want to be a singer, it's all they've ever dreamed about. They still need to be able to sing but then you see Ryland so maybe not. You've got to be in it to win it I suppose. Good Luck anyway

Concentrate on your yr12 - GCSE good stats but a bit weak for Oxford. If there are a lot of 8/9 students better than you in your school, then you will appear to be weaker. They tend to look at >9 subjects 8/9.

Go have a look at the bar chart statistics.

Yes, I always wanted to be in Oxbridge before I was even born!

Unfortunately, the prestige and status overwhelm a lot of students over what they should be looking at in medicine.

There is a serious and worrying degree of delusion. Maybe it's the 'no fail' society we've helped condition. Maybe this site is a vassal for students who have been conditioned to get what they want if they pray hard enough. What's bizarre I doubt whether it means a fig to an NHS employer, who needs to fill critical NHS vacancies whether they went to university at Oxbridge or Kathmandu.

Prestige = quality but not all courses at prestige universities have quality factors in them. Going to Oxbridge does not make a person prestigious, it what individuals make of themselves eventually that is worth the penny. In the meantime, prestige uni fever is still on........
