Computers for aerospace

I'm starting aerospace engineering with a foundation year at Sheffield soon and was wondering about the laptop/computer situation

I'm trying to figure out weather I need a new laptop for university as I currently have a MacBook Air, which does not support most of the engineering-specific software my university uses. I was thinking that as I already have a high-end Windows desktop for gaming and will have access to university computers. Could I get away with continuing to use my existing laptop, or would I need to get a new one and if so, what is a good choice?

You already have all you need in terms of computers for supporting your studies.
Use the Macbook for general stuff.
Use your Windows desktop for windows specific stuff.
Use the uni computers whenever that's most convenient and time effective for you.

Another Internet article that pretends that ebay and used laptops don't exist.
It also makes no attempt to match the laptop size to the user. One size does not fit all with laptops.
