Medicine with low GCSEs

I have gotten my GCSEs and they were really really bad to the point I won’t be able to study the sciences in a levels and will have to do applied science
I got
Biology- 5
Chemistry -6
Physics- 4
Maths -6
English language-4
And some other irrelevant ones I will answer if asked about them
I am planning on re taking bio, chem and English language and re apply to another 6th form in 2025
Is all hope lost for medicine or biomedical science?
these are easily the worst results I’ve ever got and im determined to do better an fix up on my mistakes
Any advice?

Hi I am sorry gcses didnt go as you had hoped. for biomed definitely if you resit and get 6s i would say med probably to some extent but depends on if the unis allow gcse and you meet the requirements but they can be a bit specific I sent you a pm btw

Hi I’m in the EXACT same position as you! My science and maths GCSEs did not go down well as I hoped. Due to this I’m unable to take either Biology or Chemistry at my 6th form. I didn’t meet the subject entry requirements 😞 .
I was thinking and thought I might do another degree and then try to apply into medicine.
I don’t have much advice except to have a good look around as some unis now I realised are lenient on those without a science background.
Like you I was thinking to retake maths and science and push up the grades.
But hopefully we can both succeed.

What grades did you get I know some 6th forms that will take people who get 6s to do the sciences
definitely retake your sciences, eng language and i would also say maths too. medicine or biomedical science are really hard in uni, if you don't have the right gcse grades for it, i would say most good uni's will not take you in. that said, study hard to retake it next year and don't give up. it does help a lot for ur gcses to be better, especially knowing how competitive medicine is as most students who take it get 8's and above. please dont be discouraged.

I found maths really hard (I was getting 4s since year 10) and I heard most requirements were a grade 6 it’s really expensive to re sit these GCSEs but my school did offer to pay for my resits but in June but I’m very likely to leave before then. So is it really important to re sit maths?
And thank you so much
