introductory A Level websites

I'm due to start sixth form next month and I would like to start reading ahead in my courses.

I have chosen to do drama and theatre studies (WJEC), English lit (Edexcel), government and politics (Edexcel), and psychology (AQA). It might be worth nothing that I didn't study politics or psychology at GCSE due to them being offered at my school, so if anyone has any beginner type website or textbook recommendations, then please suggest them below!

In other words, I have tried to search for some websites (especially for politics) and I cannot find any useful ones, so if anyone has taken politics or any of the other subjects above, then please suggest any good youtube channels, textbooks, websites and any other forums below.

Thanks in advance.

For all subjects I'd say buy the textbooks that made specifically for the exam board. That way you know that everything in those books is useful for what you are studying.

I didn't take Politics at A-Level, but I study Political Science at uni. I don't know of any A-Level specific material online, but I can suggest 'Politics' (fifth edition) by Andrew Heywood. Universities across the world use it as an introductory textbook. It's easy to read and covers everything you might want to know.

I would highly recommend that you sign up for Politico London Playbook newsletters. It gives you daily info about everything that is taking place in Westminster in an interesting, succinct way. It also includes some info on international news, the media round times for politicians, the front page headlines for newspapers, the weather and even birthday wishes for people in Westminster. It's a great way to stay informed of any useful case studies you may need to cite in your A-Level essays.

I do the same subjects as you except drama. Also the same exam boards. Try Alan The History Nerd for politics and if you type your texts for English into YouTube, there’s a lot of videos that may help. Also TikTok, people post videos on there with English notes and politics. Knowunity is good and studocu

Thank you, that page looks to be really helpful!

In terms of reviewing content etc, would you recommend creating flashcards from the very start of the year or would oyu suggest an alternative method? While I realise that everyone has different revision strategies, I'm trying to stay organised. Thanks in advance x

For me the night I had my lesson I made flashcards on stuff I’d done today. This helps save you making the flashcards when you want to be revising
