Warwick Law or Durham Law?

Hi everyone, i am going to be applying for law very soon and am still debating between which university would be better for law. By better, I do not mean ranking necessarily, but also teaching style, location, student life etc. and most importantly, which will provide a better education. I am very interested in humanitarian related law, international law and medical law as of now, and Warwick’s modules seems to cater towards this ‘more’. But I would love to hear what you guys think about this, and if you’ve been or are currently in one of these schools, please tell me how you found/find it.

Lastly, since Durham requires the LNAT, what is the usual cut-off score for Durham? Is it as high as Oxford or King’s which are my other two choices and LNAT schools?

Thanks!

Durham is more prestigious and has a better reputation in the "City of London law firms and also barrister's chambers. 🙂

Law firms do not keep granular rankings of university "prestige" or perceived reputation. Both are very good universities and a 2.1 or above from either will more than meet the "solid academics" criteria of any TC application.

Neither Durham nor Warwick will give any advantage over the other - the OP should pick the university they think they will be happiest at.

I add that ALL university league tables are nonsense and should be ignored. They are compiled on the basis of subjective views and/or meaningless number crunches such as how many papers university X published in the last year. Some of the so called qualitative assessments of universities are, when you look at them, merely quantitative. You might as well rank universities by how many flower pots, car parking spaces, or Tequila bars they have.

I agree with AMac86. The reality is that Warwick and Durham are seen as pretty much equal by people who actually work in the law. They are in a cluster along with several other UK universities. Lawyers don't obsess about university rankings in the way that this place often suggests that they do.
