Good afternoon @yashmitha_sivan

First of all, Congratulations on being offered a place!

Secondly, this is a valid question. I will be transparent I am a student ambassador currently studying at the University of Salford, but on a different degree (Theatre and Performance Practice) therefore I am naturally biased towards the University of Salford because I think they are brilliant. This being said - this is a great course. As you have probably seen from your own research as part of the course MSc in Audio Production you get the use of excellent facilities including advanced recording studios, music technology suites, and acoustic facilities across our Media City and Peel Park campuses. The Media City campus is situated next door to ITV and BBC, so plenty of opportunities to do some celebrity spotting between classes.

I suspect you have also read that this course is ideal for students wishing to pursue a career in the media, audio, and acoustic industries for example as a freelance sound engineer, working in audio post-production, convergent technologies, and broadcast media. Our graduates have gone on to work for household names such as Apple, Dolby, and the BBC to name a few.

I cannot advise how this compares to similar courses offered at other institutions. All I can say that I know from my two years as a performance student is that the University of Salford is brilliant at fostering your skills, and collaboration, and encouraging you to take opportunities that come your way within and outside the course.

If you haven’t already been to visit the university, you would be more than welcome to come along to our next Open Day on Wednesday 20th November, you can register your interest below.

Open Days are a great opportunity to:

💫 Meet academic staff and find out more about your chosen course.
💫 Meet fellow students and get an insight into student life at that particular university
💫 Speak to other departments such as student support.
💫 Have a campus tour and view the course facilities
💫 Explore local accommodation options.

If you are considering elsewhere, I would highly recommend attending open days if you’re able to, this is just because it is important you feel at home wherever you choose to study.

If you cannot our Open Day but are keen to visit, then you can drop our enquiries team an email or give them a call to request a campus tour at another date:

Email: [email protected]
Tel: 0161 295 4545 anytime 10 am 4 pm weekdays (excluding bank holiday Mondays including tomorrow).

Additionally, you can let the enquiries team know if you would like to swap to a January intake. I can see they are currently offering places for January and September 2025, but I would advise contacting us to secure a space for the January intake. There are also part-time study opportunities available if this is something you are interested in.

I hope this helps a little, please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions and I will be happy to help.

Lucy 😊
