I think my life is ruined because of my GCSE results

I got a 5 in both my chem and bi. I feel like I cannot even complain because maybe it is all just my incompetence. Now I am going to a levels and I cannot even pick any of those three science because it is so ****ed. I wanted to do something around the medical field but jokes on me how am I going to pursue it now without any A-levels in science since I cannot pick it?
Can I resit atleast my one of my Sciences while doing A-levels? Will I still be able to pursue a course in medical field with only a gcse incase? Or maybe is there any alternative routes? I am so lost right now.

One of my friends had the exact problem. You could perhaps retake your science gcses and then do year 12 again. You could also do triple applied science as an option but I would advice to check you course requirements. If you do triple applied science then you can maybe do biomed first and the get into the degree you actually want. One of my friends tried to ring universities and honestly you can do a foundation year for you course without having biology or chemistry as foundation years are for people that didn't meet the grade or don't do bio or chem from what I've heard. Also don't feel guilty or worthless because of your grades gcses are not that important and I'm sure you worked hard remeber your grades don't define you. Best of luck!!

Why do you want to pursue something in the medical field?

The only thing to this advice (which is overall great): lots of med schools and biomedical science schools and stem schools in general do NOT accept resits, or it doesn’t give your application a good look. They sadly always want you to be of a good level in these subjects. I had a friend who had 5 in Biology, 4 in Chemistry, retook them and got a 9 in both, and was rejected by many biomedical schools because of the resits. But it’s very true, grades do not define you, and there are many ways you can get working in the medical field! Just make sure to really research the universities you want to apply to.

Something actually just came to mind, if you do end up retaking, I think you can write some context as to why you didn’t perform well the first time. This would be through either school reference or your personal statement.

Hi

I am sorry to hear, that you are feeling this way, but please remember just because you haven't achieved the GCSEs that you were expecting doesn't mean that you can't go on to do what you want to do in the future. There are plenty of different options in order to obtain the prerequisite knowledge to get onto your course of choice.

I hope this helps,

id ask your school if they could make an exception if you let them know your re-sitting, you were only one grade away from being allowed to so thats so random that they wont let you.

Hello, you can apply to Newcastle uni to study medicine without any science based a levels. Idk abt other unis but that’s always an option so
Sometimes schools let you do A levels if you’re one grade below. You can try to do bio maybe, some medical schools let you in without chem as well

This is literally my exact predicament I’m resitting the subjects in summer and re doing yr 12 next year it just gives you an extra year to focus on better things like the ucat and work experience
Don’t give up
