Has anyone taken B126 Business data analytics & decision making with Open University?

As per the title, I am considering my options to complete stage 1 of my degree, but there are no reviews for this module so I'm wondering if anyone has taken it. If so, how was the workload?

Thanks!

hey there,

I'm currently taking it as part of my business/econ degree. There's no additional reading for this module, online course material and weekly tutorials mainly. I've found this module quite challenging as there's a lot of mathematics and data analysis involved, but if that's what you're interested in then you should be fine. If you've anything specific you wanted to know ask away

Thank you. I'm doing Discovering Mathematics beforehand to try and get my maths skills up to scratch again. Did you do any data or maths modules beforehand? I've not studied at this level in 20 years but love data so I'm hoping my passion will help fuel me.

I did b100 and dd126 before this, so not as maths or data heavy. There's not too many calculations, but it does ask you to understand several different formulas and economic caluations and how to apply them to a business context. I'd say you need to understand algebra, and how to use excel, but it walks you through both.

Can I ask how you found this course overall ? Do they teach you the maths needed as part of the module ? Thanks in advance 🙏🏼

the tutorials and online material show you how to solve the equations, create graphs etc and how they're applied in context, but a basic understanding of algebra and excel is required. There is a basic/intro algebra/maths mini module you can do before you start I believe. That might be helpful if you haven't used much maths in a while.
