UCL Rent Adjustment Pls Help!!

Hello! I'm going to be staying at UCL accom from september (first year). I am a student with additional requirements, and was wondering how the process of rent adjustment works in UCL, because there's not much on the website about it. Do I need to contact the uni or the hall directly - or do I do this after i'm fully enrolled??
Have you had an email notifying you of a rent adjustment?

Are you receiving Disabled Students' Allowance?

Have you made yourself known to UCL's disability support services?
If the OP comes back then you merely tell the accommodation team and attach a relevant medical letter. I am unsure if you have done this already, this is what I did anyway.

i applied for DSA about two weeks ago - still waiting on a response; i know it takes a long time and i have notified UCL disability support services of my medical condition as well (through the student disability services on portico), but still haven't recieved any email regarding rent adjustments

Can you afford your rent based on the maintenance loan you are expecting to receive?

my maintenance loan barely covers it (i would have about 500ish remaining?) - i require an ensuite room due to my medical condition, so in that case, would i be eligible for rent adjustments?

Okay, so if your DSA is delayed because you applied late you wouldn't be in debt on your first rent payment - that's the main thing.

In order to have your rent adjusted (or a payment towards your rent as it is due to medical condition that you need that room), you need to evidence that you have to have an ensuite. Best way to do that is through a DSA assessor. I expect the university or DSA to backdate a rent adjustment. Your only job, is providing the evidence that this is medically necessary for you.

My only other suggestion is contacting the students' union advice service. They will be very familiar with the university's regs and will probably have supported people in similar positions before.

ahh thank you so much! i was quite nervous i wouldn't be able to get it at all haha; this was very reassuring. i've provided all my medical evidence as of right now so i'll just have to wait and see! 😊
