PGDE Physical Education

Hi everyone !

I am applying to the PGDE for physical education at Edinburgh, UWS and Strathclyde next month. I was wondering if there’s any tips for preparation in the chance I might get an interview and any idea what the questions were/are like thank you.

Hi! I went through the process earlier this year! The interview process at Edinburgh was very straightforward with a brief group discussion followed by an interview. The actual interview was around 20 minutes long. They will email you a brief explanation of what areas the questions will cover so you have some time to prepare. If you have experience with young people it would be useful to start thinking/reflecting in depth about how this might be relevant to any potential questions. Nothing left field was asked, and the process itself was very quick and professional, yet never felt intimidating at any point. I'm not sure about UWS, and I never went to my Strathclyde interview, but I know that at Strathclyde I think you have to prepare a presentation which could be important in setting you apart from other candidates, so could be useful to start thinking about that as well. I ended up going to Glasgow where they sent you all the interview questions in advance, so could be a similar process for UWS and Strathclyde, but not 100%. As long as you prepare in advance/think about common scenarios in education, you will not be blindsided, and the interviewers I met were all so friendly/personable and went out their way to make me feel comfortable! I had quite a few subject specific questions as well, but more in an educational setting, rather than having to show off any knowledge. Good luck!

Hi! Can I ask did you get an offer from Edinburgh after interview? If you don't feel comfortable answering don't worry as it has already been so useful reading your experience at interview!
