Mental health nursing or Speech and language therapy?

Hi, I'm currently trying to decide what I would like to study in university but I can't decide between mental health nursing or SLT. Are there any mental health nursing students/graduates and SLT students/graduates that could help me?
Book some uni open days and attend the course talks for both subjects, and talk to the staff and students. Then contact your local hospitals and ask for a day of shadowing experience for both MHN and SLT. This will help you understand what each of the jobs involves. Also, search for 'a day in the life of a ..........' on Youtube. They are usually produced by NHS trusts.

Worth mentioning that SALT in Mental Health settings is a huge expansion area as well.

Hey there 😁

What motivates you to study these subjects? It's important to reflect on your interests, strengths, and future goals, as choosing a field that aligns with who you are will greatly impact your long-term happiness and success. Ultimately, the course you choose is the first step on your career path, so it’s worth taking the time to consider these factors carefully.

As others have mentioned, attending Open Days or Taster Events can be incredibly helpful. You'll get a chance to experience a real lecture, speak with professors and current students, and explore course options and career prospects. Before that, you can also do some research online. Look for student groups on Facebook or join online chats with current students. TAP (The Ambassador Platform) is a fantastic resource, where students share daily insights about university life and their personal journeys, and you can chat with them directly.

I hope it was helpful 💪 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 😉 You can also chat with me or other students directly through The Ambassador Platform.

Take care,
