I just finished year 11 and am unsure on what a level subjects to take. I'm not so sure what career path I want in the future, I'd like to keep my options as open as possible. I have decided on Economics and Psychology already. Just not sure on a 3rd a level. I originally decided to do English Literature as it was one of my favourites at GCSE and I got an 8. However, the essays and amount of books you have to read kind of threw me off. I also felt like English lit seems like a subject that doesn't open many career pathways or degrees. So I'm unsure and i've also heard that its rly hard to get an A star. I just want a subject that is facilitating, respected and very broad in terms of future options. Any advice please.
English literature definitely keeps your options open, especially with the key skills you pick up such as analysis, critical thinking, essay writing, and a lot more. Don't let the hard work deter you from taking it, there's no "easy" a-level.
maths keeps a lot of doors open, it also compliments economics. Or maybe pick other stem subjects like chem or bio as these subjects look good on your application

If youre thinking of going to uni and possibly pursuing one of econ/psychology or something similar than for psychology its recommended to do another science subject but there are options if you dont (biology, chem, maths etc) and for economics if you wanted to study that or somethign in its field at uni maths is the most important. Taking English lit could be a good option if you enjoy it- have a look at the spec and watch some videos on the texts youll be covering to see if they appeal to you.
