Would this be considered an extenuating circumstance for uni?

Hi,

I am wondering if unis would consider this an extenuating circumstance. I am applying to Oxford, Warwick, Bristol, Reading and LSE.

In the same year that I sat my exams. I ahd a surgery at the start of the school term. It was supposed to be a fairly small procedure on my foot after I had severly broken it a few years before. However, there was a complication with the procedure and they had to abort the surgery without fully completing it. I ahdd to undergo a fairly long phase of about 2 months in plater on then with significant swelling. of course I had time of from school during this time. After the surgery, I can walk and run fine but it does have clear moments of discomfort and playing sports for long periods or walkig far can be difficult.

There is no harm in having your referee include this information, however I don’t think that would move the needle. Whilst that is disruptive & inevitably impact you, these sorts of issues are what id say fall into the natural volatility patterns that happen in life.

That said I have never worked as a university admissions officer & can’t comment on how they will perceive it, this is just my thoughts.
