Im going to be studying Chemistry, I am going to be studying at home. Does anyone have any recommendations of things i’ll need such as stationary or books?

Regarding books I would probably wait until your first week of starting your course when you have access to Blackboard (or whatever system your uni uses). Hopefully, you should be given a reading list for each module, and a lot of the books will hopefully be available online via your university library as e-books (meaning you shouldn't have to buy any as they can be quite expensive).

With stationary what I did was pack a couple of pencil cases worth of essentials:

pens

pencils

rubber

sharpener

ruler

highlighters

felt tips and coloured pencils

separate from pencil cases: notebook & flashcards

It does depend if you're going to take digital or physical notes as this might impact how much you need.

Hi there,

As it has already been said, wait to find out if the books and other resources you need will be available for free online.

At the very least, it would be useful to have a laptop/tablet, a few notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, highlighters, and flashcards. I also have a few document folders that I organize by module, even though I take most of my notes digitally.

Just make sure you have the basics, as you can always buy something once you arrive there if you find you need it. It might also take some trial and error to find a system of note-taking and organization that works best for you, so you might not need as much stationary as you think.

I hope this helps,
