Nea aqa history a level on russia

Hey everyone . I'm currently in year 13 and I have to do my History NEA (AQA), on Tsarist and Communist Russia as a topic. My question is "There was more continuity than change in the methods used to control the people of Russia during the years 1855 to 1964’. To what extent do you agree?”

However, I have no idea how to thoroughly start planning and writing this. I have done some research, but it would really help talking to someone about this in more detail, as my teacher is barely giving us any advice because they ran out of time. My main arguments were that there is more change and my paragraph ideas were :
Terror
Mass media (censorship and propaganda)
Reform and ideology
Religion and Cults of personality

I would appreciate any answer or piece of advice !!
I just finished my A levels and I got an A in history. We had to do our History NEA on the same topic. I can’t give you much advice as it’s been months since I completed my coursework but I would advise you to keep it simple rather that over complicate things. My NEA question was also on change and continuity (only a slightly different time range than yours) and I was told by my teachers to just do it chronologically. Essentially I just spoke about each Tsar leader in each paragraph rather than doing it based on themes. I made sure to mention whether there was a change in the way each Tsar ruled whenever I would begin a new paragraph. I hope I could’ve been more help. If you have any questions let me know!
