Hi, I'm about to start my degree this September and I am trying to decide which career path I should pursue.
Which is harder to break into (assuming I graduate with a good grade from a top RG):
- Journalism - political broadcast journalism
- Law - solicitor, any field as I haven't decided on a specific one at this point
- or Consulting - management/strategy consulting
All interests me a lot, journalism mostly but it's so competitive that I'm drawn away from it. I'd love to go into law, I have done a lot of research but the extra costs/training puts me off because I know how difficult it is to get a TC afterwards. Consulting also interests me just like the other fields I'm considering and I could potentially enter the field straight out of uni if successful.
Other fields I am slightly interested in are diplomacy and a field in international politics/regional development or even a role in the govt ?
What would your pros/cons for these main 3 fields be? Maybe you could rank them in order of what you'd consider the best field to enter?
Any other advice would be appreciated too !
Thanks
