UCAS - applying as a private candidate

(Asking on behalf of someone)
Let’s say I’m on a gap year and retaking A level exams next year 2025.

1. How would the predicted grades and ucas reference work as a private candidate if I’m not getting grades from my school?

2. If I contact a tutor on a website can they predict me grades for all 3/4 of my subjects? Or is it only the one that they teach?

3. Do I need to sit mocks / tests privately witht these tutors for my predicted grades or can I just tell them what grades I need and they simply input that?

4. Can u get predicted grades from school and from tutors like a mix?

Thanks!

1) You would put in the grades you got originally which I'm presuming is 2024. As well as that, you would put in another set of the same subjects but marking the results as pending for 2025 august. For the reference, you can either ask for a workplace to give you a reference, but it is preferred that you get an academic reference so try and get into contact with your past teachers and ask if they would do so.

2) Based on how similar the subjects you are taking are then yes they probably could predict you the same for all the subjects, such as STEM subjects.

3) Personally I'd ask them first what grades they think that I'm working at, for example if they think you're working at a 'C' for a subject theoretically, and the university you want to get into needs an 'A'; ask your tutor if they think that is possible

4)No. You can only use one reference on your UCAS application so unless you can get some grades from your school and ask your tutor to input them or vice versa.
