Birkbeck student ages

Is there anyone below 20 years old going to study at Birkbeck this year? 2024/2025. I feel like I will be the only teenager there

I’m over 20:and starting second year at Bbk. On the 2023 open day over a third of the students were close to 20 and people choose to study there straight from a levels. Also you can mix with others London unis and the folk that organise bbk union events are predominantly early 20s. Enjoy.

me (23) and my other half (20) are entering our first year this September. Birkbeck appeals to us because we're working adults who have daytime commitments. Evening classes suit our lifestyle - and as people who are fresh out of college ourselves, we are looking forward to having mature friendships with people in their 20's and early 30s verses people who turned 14 during covid. 💀 I guess we're the target demographic in that respect. Birkbeck is the odd one out in terms of what unis usually offer socially, but that's alright because there's plenty of local hangouts where we can meet other uni students instead (the massive Waterstones, pubs, clubs, etc).
This is 5 months old but I'd point out for posterity that Birkbeck is directly between SOAS and UCL (as in like, it takes 5-10 minutes to walk from UCL to SOAS and Birkbeck is in the middle of them), so it's not like there won't be plenty of school leaver aged students all around you constantly (even if not necessarily in your lectures) during the daytime at least.

Hi,

If you attend an open day, it should give you a better idea of the student demographic. While Birkbeck is known for having a higher proportion of mature students, there will definitely be younger students too. Plus, since it's right next to SOAS and other central London universities, there's a lot of opportunity to meet students from different backgrounds and age groups. You won’t be the only teenager there!
