Law placement year?
My law course offers a placement year before third year. If I do the placement year, will I still have to complete a two year training contract or would I be able to take my SQE after a year? Would the work I do during the placement year count as qualifying work experience?

I highly doubt it. It will likely just be a year of experience. You will go on to do the SQE and apply for your training contract as normal.
