Degree choice and job prospect at UCL?

I want to study at UCL, but unfortunately, my predicted score is only AAA. I have no choice but to apply for somewhat 'niche' degrees.

I have narrowed down my choice to two and am currently torn between crime/ security science and global humanitarian studies. Either way, I will be bombarded with concerns from my family and friends that such a 'Mickey Mouse' degree in a school like UCL(different story for Oxbridge)

I am quite concerned with employability as well. Especially for GHS since people are saying that u will be immediately rejected with smth studies during the screening process.

What should I do? Should I promise course over uni reputation or vice versa?

Personally I'd say do the subject you actually want to over studying at your dream uni. You'll be at the uni for 3/4 years but the degree and knowledge at the end of it will be with you for life.
Graduate schemes and employers don't care what degree you studied beyond if it's a requirement for the role (e.g. needing a nursing degree to apply to a nursing post, or an engineering degree to apply to most engineering roles...).

Literally a non-factor. Also where you studied isn't really that important beyond the small number of roles in investment banking and management consulting, who also don't care what you studied and just care if you went to a target uni.

Just do the degree you want to do, where you want to do it. Unless you want to be an investment banker in which case do whatever degree you care to at a target uni.
