SOAS Korean

Hello,

I've got a place to study Korean at SOAS this September but have heard a lot of mixed opinions regarding the course. I've heard a lot of people discussing how disorganised the course is and found the teachers to not be very supportive. Are there any SOAS Korean students who can share their experience and whether or not they recommend the course?

I've got a place to study Korean and Linguistics and wondering the same thing - my cousin actually went to SOAS but said she didnt have a good experience as lecturers wouldnt show up, the course lost funding, lots of strikes and classes cancelled etc. but she loved the year abroad. my family is quite against me going because of this so I'm not sure if I should even consider it anymore, and the cost of london is expensive ofc. I've seen people on here with different experiences however so it may not be as bad as what I mentioned.

Most people I've spoken with have suggested I get an undergraduate degree in another subject and then go straight to a Korean language school in Korea since that's where they learnt most of their Korean but idk 😭 I've heard the Japanese course is way more organised and a lot better so I've been considering switching to that as I'd love to study both languages at some point and then going to a Korean language school after graduation
