freshers tickets - do the student guild do better tickets?

hi!

i'm on a few exeter gcs and freshers tickets are constantly being advertised there. i've heard these things are scams, esp fatsoma big fresher events or whatever, so i've held out buying anything.

i've seen a lot of people say it's a better idea to just wait until we get to the uni, as our flatmates might want to do other things and tickets are usually sold at the door, and also that the student unions usually sell their own official tickets and they end up having more value for money than the unofficial scammy ones. i'm just wondering if exeter guild sell anything like that nearer to the time? or if tickets are usually available at the door?

for all i know the student reps on this site could be the same people being paid to advertise those tickets and i get it! get your bag. but if not please tell me the truth

i trust the people saying the fatsoma ones are scams, it seems like a well-known thing for years now. i also don't get the queue skip stuff...imo the queues look like a good time to get to know people lol
Hi there!

As you are already aware there are a lot of sites which do pre-sales or some sort of fresher "deals". Personally, I would suggest waiting until freshers week to get tickets to any events you are interested in. Most societies will only start posting their socials and events a week before or during freshers week so there really isn't any need to worry now. As for the club tickets, the most reliable site is FIXR. They usually release tickets 7-10 days in advance.

When I was a fresher I also thought I had to buy everything in advance and ended up not going to any of the events I pre-paid for because I met other people and saw the events that were advertised during freshers week!

I hope this helps.

defo don’t bothered with wristbands or tickets through the chats. they’re just reps who want commission lol, and these events don’t tend to be the most popular ones.
as mentioned above, id download FIXR as most tickets are sold through there. i’d say our main clubs are timepiece, fever and cavern so maybe follow them on social media. also follow societies you’re interested in joining to see their events.
i would just wait until you meet people to book events that other people are doing.
also would recommend joining the facebook group ‘overheard at the uni of exeter’. people will resell tickets here, just keep an eye out for scammers (check their profiles to see if they’re legit exeter students!)
hope this helps
